נָגַהּ (nagah) — Verb
From the Hebrew נָגַהּ (nagah), meaning to shine, to break forth as light. Verbal force: The related noun is used of the brightness of dawn and of the glow surrounding the divine presence. The verb pictures light emerging from within darkness rather than being carried into it. Theological depth: Scripture never presents God as merely locating a believer in the dark. He is the source of the illumination itself, which is why the psalmist can speak of "my darkness" being enlightened rather than exchanged.
