Twenty-five years
I have been a born-again Christian for twenty-five years. For most of that time my study of Scripture has been self-directed — sustained, serious, and largely solitary. That was not the plan, and I would not commend it as a model.
I make no claim to formal theological training, and I hold no office. What I bring is a quarter-century of reading the Word closely, and a life that has been fundamentally shaped by the fact that God’s seed remains in me. I have not been faultless in those years — no honest Christian claims otherwise — but the work of God in a life is not undone by the failures of the one living it, and that is itself part of what I have learned.
Why this exists
Bibles exist in abundance, and there are genuinely faithful churches. What seemed to me scarcer was the careful dividing of the Word — teaching that stays with what the text actually says rather than mingling it with half-truths, or resting its weight where Scripture does not.
The particular difficulty I could not get past was an emphasis on blessing understood as wealth and material increase. Our Lord told us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, with the promise that the rest would be added. To reverse that order is not a small adjustment of emphasis; it changes what is being sought. For a long time this kept me from settling anywhere, which I now think was a cost I paid too willingly.
This site is my attempt to contribute something to the teaching of the Word — written plainly, anchored to the text, and unwilling to promise what Scripture does not.
Where I worship
For the past year I have worshipped with a local Pentecostal Assemblies church, and I am currently in the process of joining the congregation. After years of standing apart, I have resolved to belong somewhere — to sit under teaching, to be known, and to contribute to the building up of the body rather than only to study on my own.
The views expressed on this site are my own. They are not the positions of that church, and nothing here should be read as representing it.
I say this for their protection as much as for clarity. They have not reviewed this material, and it would be unfair to attach a congregation’s name to teaching it has not examined.
What this site is not
It is not a church, and it is no substitute for one. It cannot baptise you, break bread with you, sit with you in trouble, or know you well enough to correct you. If you are reading here and belong nowhere, the most useful thing this site can do is tell you to go and find a congregation that preaches the Scriptures faithfully.
It is also not the work of a scholar, and does not pretend to be. Where the original languages are opened, the aim is to illuminate the English text in front of you — never to suggest that your Bible is insufficient without a lexicon.
If you believe something here is wrong
Then tell me. A site that teaches doctrine and has no mechanism for correction is asking for a trust it has not earned, and willingness to be corrected is itself an argument for trustworthiness.
Write to contact@logosunveiled.org. It helps to name the page, quote the claim you think is mistaken, and give the scripture you believe it contradicts. You do not need to be gentle about it; you do need to be specific.
Where I am shown to be wrong, I will correct the page and say plainly that it was corrected, rather than editing it quietly and hoping no one noticed. Where I remain unpersuaded, I will tell you that too, and why.
What is taught here is set out in full in the statement of faith. Scripture quotations throughout are from the King James Version.
