לָשׁוֹן (lashon) — Noun, common
From the Hebrew לָשׁוֹן (lashon): the tongue, and by extension speech, language, or a people's manner of speaking. Semantic force: Hebrew uses the organ for the act throughout. The tongue is treated as an agent with a record — it has fruit, it has power, it can be healing or a sword — rather than as a neutral instrument used well or badly. Theological depth: Because speech in Scripture proceeds from the heart, the tongue functions as diagnosis rather than mere behaviour. What is said reveals what is stored, which is why Scripture addresses the mouth and the heart in the same breath.
