The Unbreakable BondNew Testament
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
(KJV)
Paul exhausts the categories — height, depth, things present, things to come — and finds nothing that separates.
The Kept by the Power of GodNew Testament
“Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
(KJV)
The keeping runs through faith rather than around it, which is why assurance and perseverance are not opposed.
The Everlasting ArmsOld Testament
“The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.”
(KJV)
Moses locates safety beneath rather than around — there is no falling out of arms that are underneath.
Rest in your absolute security in Christ today. You are held fast in His unshakeable grip.
Passage:
Focus: Notice the double security: held safely in both the Son's hand and the Father's hand.
Ask yourself: When you fear falling away, whose grip are you actually thinking about? Notice that the sheep in this passage are never described as holding on to anything.
Almighty God our Father, no man is able to pluck them out of Your Son's hand, nor out of Yours. Let Your Holy Spirit rest my security in that double grip rather than in my own consistency. I ask it in the name of the Lord Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Amen.
