“Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”
(KJV)
We were quickened together with Christ when we were dead in sins, before any improvement was possible.
The Forgiven and Made AliveNew Testament
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;”
(KJV)
Paul joins the making alive to the forgiving of all trespasses, as one act.
The Spirit That Gives LifeOld Testament
“And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.”
(KJV)
I shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live — the valley of dry bones answers the question of whether God can raise what is finished.
Draw upon the indwelling resurrection power of the Holy Spirit to overcome spiritual weariness today.
Passage:
Focus: Dwell on the guarantee that God will quicken your mortal body by His indwelling Spirit.
Ask yourself: Where are you most conscious of your own weakness or tiredness at present? Does it change anything to know the Spirit who raised Christ is not visiting that place, but living there?
Almighty God our Father, if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in me, You shall also quicken my mortal body by that Spirit. Impart that resurrection vitality to me today. I ask it in the name of the Lord Jesus, the Firstborn from the dead. Amen.
