צָרַף (tsaraph) — Verb
From the Hebrew צָרַף (tsaraph), meaning to smelt, refine, or test — the metallurgist's work of driving off dross by fire. Passive force: Proverbs uses the passive participle: the word is not merely pure but has been purified. Its reliability is a tested result, not an untried claim. Theological depth: The image assumes a furnace. God's Word has been through every fire that history, persecution, and hostile scholarship could apply, and no dross has ever separated out. What survives such testing is fit to be trusted with your life.
