βασιλεία (basileia) — Noun
From the Greek βασιλεία (basileia), derived from basileus (king), meaning kingdom, royal rule, sovereign dominion. Semantic force: The word denotes the reign itself before it denotes the realm — the exercise of kingly authority rather than merely the territory over which it extends. To translate it only as "kingdom" loses the active sense. Theological depth: Gabriel announces a dominion with neither territorial nor temporal boundary. Every earthly regime is, by definition, an interim arrangement. The believer's allegiance is already pledged to the one government that will outlast every headline.
