יֵשַׁע (yesha) — Noun
From the Hebrew יֵשַׁע (yesha), meaning deliverance, rescue, or salvation — the root behind the names Joshua and Jesus. Semantic force: The word denotes rescue from a concrete danger by an outside agent, most often military or judicial. It is not primarily an inward or spiritual state. Theological depth: David predicates salvation of God Himself rather than treating it as a benefit God supplies. Scripture consistently refuses to separate the gift from the Giver.
