קָרָא (qara) — Verb, qal imperfect
From the Hebrew קָרָא (qara): to call out to; to address by name; to summon. Semantic force: The verb implies a voice directed at someone in particular. It is the word used of naming the animals and of God calling the light Day — speech that reaches for a specific hearer. Theological depth: The first thing God does after the fall is call. Not accuse, not sentence, not withdraw. The order of the chapter is the order of the gospel: the search precedes the judgement.
